When a car can no longer be repaired

On 16 Apr 2026, a road traffic accident involving several vehicles occurred in the Pryluky District of the Chernihiv Region.

Our client’s Renault Duster sustained serious damage and, following an expert assessment, was declared a total loss.

This sort of situation is always unpleasant for a car owner. Apart from the accident itself, a very practical question arises: what will happen to the car now, and will the insurance payout be enough to compensate for the loss?

After the necessary paperwork had been completed, the insurer paid out 775,798.80 UAH in insurance compensation.

But that was not the end of the matter. The damaged car still had a residual value, so a solution also had to be found regarding its sale. As a result, a buyer was found who purchased the remains of the car for 315,000 UAH.

Not every insurance claim ends with the car being repaired. Sometimes the best outcome is to settle the matter without any further financial loss to the owner and move on.
